Thanks to Sandmarc for sending the Microscopic Lens for this review.

It came in a small black box, with an image of the Lens in front.

Although it's advertised as compatible with iPhones, I'll also demonstrate its compatibility with Android phones.

This item is designed in California, manufactured in China, and packaged in the USA.

UNBOXING

Buy Sandmarc Microscope Lens for iPhone

Inside the box is a small zipper bag, containing a pouch, the microscopic lens, a clip-on mount, a cleaning cloth, a USB cable, and a carabiner hook.

The lens is protected by a cover in front and another at the back.

The lens feels premium with a solid metal body.

There is a button on the side that turns on a built-in light with 2 levels of brightness.

On the other side is a USBC port to recharge the light battery.

SETTING UP

To set it up, screw the lens onto the clip-on mount.

Clip it onto the phone, and align it with the camera.

Switch on the light, and we are good to go.

The same clip can also be used on an Android phone.

I recommend the Sandmarc iPhone case, for iPhones, which comes with built-in screw threads for easy lens attachment.

TESTING (The Fun Part!)

Let’s go to the garden to test it out.

First up, is the texture of a leaf. I see intricate details, minute hairs, and a patchwork of green ...cells.

Next, let's look at some dried roses. It's a sight of a brittle landscape with muted browns and yellows.

How about the surface of a coin? Every scratch tells a story.

The 40x magnification and the built-in light revealed a whole new hidden world.

I wish I could adjust the focal distance so I don't have to touch the subject.
