📖 How Do You Read a Script While Looking Into the Camera - Lensgo TC7 Teleprompter Review
How do you read a script while looking into the camera?
I will need this device called the teleprompter... https://www.videolane.com/lensgo-tc7-teleprompter-review/
In this video, I review the Lensgo TC7 Teleprompter.
Check it out here... https://amzn.to/3x2SNEX
00:00 What is a Teleprompter
The teleprompter places my script right in front of the camera.
So when I'm reading the script, I'm looking directly into the camera.
00:17 How does a Teleprompter Work
How does a teleprompter work?
The main feature is the angled one-way mirror.
It's actually a piece of reflective glass with a hole behind it for the camera to look through.
All I have to do is to place my script in front of the glass.
I can see the script but the camera will not see anything except my face of course.
00:53 Foldable Portable Teleprompter
This particular teleprompter that I have can be folded and kept in less than one second.
This is the Lensgo TC7 Teleprompter.
01:05 How to Use the Teleprompter with a Camera
How do you attach the teleprompter to the camera?
The package comes with a few camera adapter rings.
Pick the right size that you can screw onto your lens.
Check out the specs to make sure that there is the right size for your camera.
Then slide the adapter into the slot behind the teleprompter.
Place the camera with the teleprompter onto your tripod.
Open the teleprompter and you are good to go.
01:39 How to Use the Teleprompter with a Phone Camera
Can I use the teleprompter with a smartphone or iPhone camera?
The package comes with a few mobile phone shading rings.
Pick one that matches your phone.
Push the ring into the 62mm adapter.
Slot the adapter behind the teleprompter.
Then put your phone into the provided phone holder.
There is a screw under the phone holder.
If I want to shoot vertical, I will attach the screw to the hole on the left-hand side.
If I want to shoot horizontal, I will attach the screw to the hole on the right-hand side.
Adjust the position of the phone so that the camera sits nicely over the slot, then tighten.
Underneath the teleprompter is a regular tripod screw hole, so I can mount it on any regular tripod.
Again, open the teleprompter and I am good to go.
02:48 Small Portable Phone Teleprompter
You know what?
There is also a regular cold shoe mount on top of the teleprompter so that I can attach a light or a mic.
Now, this is what I call a mobile teleprompter complete with a microphone.
I mean seriously, it's so lightweight I can use it without any assistance.
03:09 Download the Free Teleprompter App
Now let's talk about the teleprompter app for the script.
Yes, I need a separate phone or a small tablet for the script.
I have to install this app called TCQI by Huangxi.
It's available on the iOS App Store and the Android Play Store.
I will be using my abandoned old phones for the teleprompter app.
Inside the TCQI teleprompter app, I can paste my script and then give my script a name.
When I'm ready to present I just tap on the script.
Press play and the mirror image script will start scrolling slowly.
I can go into the settings anytime to adjust the font size and the scrolling speed.
There are also other settings that I can adjust so that I can read the script comfortably.
There is a sticky pad on the base for me to place my script so that my phone won't accidentally slip out from the teleprompter.
04:14 The Teleprompter Bluetooth Remote Control
Now the next concern is... what if I'm reading too fast or too slow?
How can I adjust the scrolling speed without touching the phone?
The Lensgo teleprompter comes with a Bluetooth remote control.
The right button speeds up the text.
The left button slows down the text.
The top and bottom buttons scroll through the text page by page.
04:41 What's Bad About the Teleprompter
Now let's talk about the cons, the disadvantages, of using the Lensgo teleprompter or any teleprompter.
First, I can't see myself while recording unless I have an assistant or an external monitor.
Secondly, I can't use the ultra-wide camera lens unless I want to see the teleprompter app.
Thirdly, it's personal. I have to practice once or twice before I can read the script smoothly.
